This playlist invites you to discover the musical atmosphere of the work of Jack Kerouac « On the road (1955-57) ». It includes music from artists cited throughout the book. At the time of Kerouac, jazz be bop was in the spotlight and the author pays homage to it. He also wrote in chapter 10 of part 3 of On the road: “Here were the childen of american bop night”. Based on the 1957 version and the 2000s edition from Penguin Books, Kerouac quotes the references « Lover Man » by Billie Hollyday, « The Hunt » by Dexter Gordon & Wardell Gray, George Shearing, Lester Young, Charlie Parker, Miles Davis, Louis Armstrong, Roy Eldridge, Count Basie & Benny Moten, Thelenious Monk, Gillespsie, « Gator Tail » of Willie Jackson, the mambo music of Perez Prado and Duke Ellington. So many musicians who, like Kerouac, are today part of the history of the United States.
